CHINA: Descendants of the Dragon

  • October 5-24, 2012

Unlike European dragons, which are considered evil, Chinese dragons symbolize potent and auspicious power and good luck. With this, the Emperor of China used the dragon as a symbol of his imperial power.

The vast country of China is so much more than the typical tourist sites of Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall near Beijing, the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an, and the Orient Pearl Tower of Shanghai. In addition to these great places we will visit, this tour is designed to take you to another experiential level of China's ancient history and exquisite geography, the fascinating culture and deep religious beliefs, and the vibrant eruption of modern commerce with fast trains and Olympian dreams of its peoples.

Meeting Chinese in many walks of life, sharing their tea ceremonies and worship times, visiting rice terraces and local villages-with music, dance, banquets, and quiet strolls along bamboo covered lakeshores-your opportunities are myriad to delve more deeply into a new awareness of greatness and excitement resulting from 5000 years of history of these Descendants of the Dragon.

This is a uniquely designed tour program in our new series, Ancient Cultures, Timeless Faiths, which you are invited to join.
